  • Ennio Capasa biography. Born in Lecce, South of Italy, after having studied at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, Ennio Capasa moved to Tokyo where he becomes the collaborator of Yohji Yamamoto for two years. On his return to Italy, in 1986, he found with his brother Carlo Costume National and, in the same year, he presented the first woman collection. Designer and Creative Director of Costume National, Costume National Homme and C’N'C Costume National – the brand’s street-wear line, Ennio Capasa is known to have created an original and iconographic style that the international press defines essential, edgy-chic. Also recognized as a costume designer and passionate about architecture, his work includes “Lo Specchio di Frida”, a play based on Frida Kahlo’s life (1998) and “The rules of attraction”, a mise en espace of Bret Easton Ellis’s novel (2002). In 1999 he directed “Bright red: blood, transformation and transfiguration in contemporary art”, an exhibition for the Milan pavilion of Contemporary Art. In 2000 the city of Otranto commissioned him “Progetto Otranto” an urban design project. Awarded several times during his career, Ennio Capasa in 2003 and 2005 received the La Kore award, the Academy Awards of Italian Fashion, for designer of the year for the excellence of his creations.

Between 1995 and 1998, Costume National fashion house opened stores in Milan, New York, Rome, Los Angeles and Paris.
  • Collaborations and co-branding. In 2000, a menswear collection was streamed online in collaboration with Kataweb. In 2005, Ennio Capasa created the DUCATI Black Dogo: a motorcycle similar to the Argentine mastiff it got its name from. This collaboration allowed him to design a series of special items of clothing under the C’N'C Costume National Ducati label. To celebrate its 21st anniversary in 2007, the company presented the book 21 (a photographic journal of Capasa’s career), a version of the Absolut Vodka bottle dressed in black vinyl with images of two catwomen, the Alfa 147 C’N'C 21 (a limited edition car costume), a unisex fragrance called “Costume National 21″, and a line of luxury sneakers under the name “Costume National Active”. During Milan Design Week of 2009, the Dutch designer Maarten Baas presented his show-event entitled “Real Time” in the C’N'C Costume National showroom. C’N'C Costume National showed the SS2010 Collection in Piazza Duomo in front of 40000 guests, rather than to a limited number of “those who are active in the industry”. To celebrate Christmas 2009 the company participated in the Water Project, an Amref initiative. In 2010, C’N'C Costume National showed the FW2010/2011 Collection at the Teatro dell’Arte of the Triennale di Milano.
