Here’s your delicious A-list of Lanvin shoes. Lanvin is a high fashion house founded by French fashion designer, Jeanne-Marie Lanvin (1 January 1867 – 6 July 1946), Paris, one of the most influential designers of the 1920s and 1930s.

Awarded the “Chevalier de l’Order de la Légion d’Honneur” in 1926 and the “Officier de l’Order de la Légion d’Honneur” in 1938, Lanvin use of intricate trimmings, virtuoso embroideries and beaded decorations in clear, light, floral colors became a trademark.

Lanvin received international as well as national press in the United States in May 2009 when Michelle Obama was photographed wearing a pair of Lanvin sneakers of suede, with grosgrain ribbon laces and metallic pink toe caps while volunteering at a Washington, D.C. food bank. The sneakers were reported to have cost $540.

  • Jeanne Lanvin biography. The eldest of 11 children, Jeanne Lanvin became an apprentice milliner at Madame Félix in Paris at the age of 16 and trained at dressmaker Talbot. She made beautiful clothes for her daughter that they began to attract the attention of a number of wealthy people who requested copies for their own children. Soon, she was making dresses for their mothers, and some of the most famous names in Europe were included in the clientele of her boutique. She became known for her mother-and-daughter outfits and exquisite robes de style, as well as her modern and global approach to the fashion industry. When she died in 1946, ownership of the company was ceded to her daughter, Marguerite di Pietro.
  • France’s oldest couture house. Founded in 1889 when 22 year old designer Jeanne Lanvin opened a boutique on Paris’ prestigious rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré and it is known for being one of the oldest French couture houses. In 1909, an induction into the country’s Syndicat de la Couture confirmed Lanvin as a highly respected fashion house. From 1920s, the Lanvin empire included a dye factory in Nanterre and shops devoted to home decor, menswear, furs and lingerie, but most significant expansion was the creation of Lanvin Parfums SA in 1924 and the introduction of Jeanne Lanvin signature fragrance Arpège in 1927, inspired by the sound of her daughter’s practicing her scales on the piano. A later perfume, “My Sin,” an animalic-aldehyde based on heliotrope.
  • Using her creative style. Jeanne Lanvin has created a style for Lanvin that represents a global universe of elegance and refinement. Surrounding herself with artists and young talented people gave her the experience to really absorb the cultural heritage of aficionado culture. She has really made it a point to incorporate her beliefs of artistic tradition through displays of Lanvin Paris advertising campaigns. Today, Lanvin is used as a reference for the Parisian industry of luxury, from fashion to perfumes to accessories. Since 2001, under a Moroccan-born Israeli fashion designer, Alber Elbaz’s creative direction, the much desired Lanvin has been revitalized, it is now the epitome of elegance and the accessories reflect this perfectly.
