Converse completely believing that there was an earnest demand from the retail shoe dealer for a rubber shoe business that would be independent enough not to follow every other company in every thing they do.

Converse shoes

Converse was first. Converse is original. Converse is The First School. Converse never fails to put you in the spotlight! 3 reasons on why Converse is so success.

  • Converse basketball shoes. From the early days of the game to present day, basketball legends have come and gone, but they’re seldom forgotten. The same is true with the performance shoes worn by those on the road to greatness. Converse is everlastingly linked to the heritage of basketball. In fact, Converse created a whole industry following its invention of the very first basketball shoe in 1917, the All Star. Converse has since relentlessly delivered an ever-improving lineage of performance basketball shoes designed to keep up with the fast evolution of the game. Every pair of Converse performance basketball shoes from the early 1900’s through present day carries with it the DNA of the original, the Converse All Star. Each innovative pair of Converse shoes has evolved with the game itself. Each pair was designed to contribute to improvements in players’ speed, agility, and finesse. Each authentic pair of Converse then owes a bit of its sole, and soul, to the original shoe that inspired new levels of athleticism, unbelievable performances, and new styles of play that preceded the modern game.
  • Converse sports lifestyle. The sport mentality is a state of mind that follows you everywhere and fits in anywhere. Converse is the inventor of sports-inspired lifestyle footwear. America’s original sports company brings a classic spin to contemporary athletic footwear derived from its nearly 100-year history. Converse speaks to the fundamentals of everyday life and offers progressive styling to traditional sneakers authentically infused with unique Converse DNA. Converse understanding and interpretation of today’s style leaders result in a new generation of athletically-styled shoes; Modern street silhouettes which are all at once classic, expressive, relaxed, casual, and timeless. Converse Jack Purcell shoes have gained fame well beyond that of the 1930’s badminton player himself and are a standing staple of early Hollywood and boarding school bad boys. Jack Purcell keeps finding new fans and has been updated with lighter weight construction, a re-engineered last, and a redesigned outsole to bring more comfort, flexibility and traction to this casual yet classic court shoe.
  • Chuck Taylor All Star. Converse recruited a young basketball player, salesman, and the game’s first ever player endorser, Chuck Taylor, who would go on to represent Converse between 1918 and 1968, figured prominently in the evolution and popularization of basketball worldwide. Beyond its sports origins, Chuck Taylor All Star shoes, popularly known as “Chucks,” have since transcended generational cultural and socio-economic boundaries. It has evolved further than performance into an American and global youth representation of originality and individuality. Converse began to find its way into popular culture in the 1940’s when America’s youth began sporting their “Chucks” off the court. Today, “Chucks” are worn by artists, musicians, trend setters and pop culture icons. At the same time, Chuck Taylor shoes are not tied to boundaries. Converse resonates across generations and is imbedded in society. In nearly a century, and more than 750 million shoes later, the soul of Chuck Taylor lives on in every product Converse makes.

Where Can I Buy Converse shoes

Converse lost much of its apparent near-monopoly from the 1970s onward, with the surge of new competitors, including Puma and Adidas, then Nike, then a decade later Reebok, who introduced radical new designs to the market. Converse found them no longer the official shoe of the National Basketball Association, a title they had relished for many years.

The loss of market share, combined with poor business decisions forced Converse to file for bankruptcy on January 22, 2001. When the company subsequently changed hands that year, the last factory in the United States was closed. Thereafter, manufacturing for the American market was no longer performed in the United States, but instead in a number of Asian and European countries, including China, Indonesia, Italy, Lithuania and Vietnam. On July 9, 2003, the company accepted a $US305 million purchase offer from rival Nike.

Converse footwear and apparel is available at key retailers including Journeys, Foot Locker and Champs Sports, as well as other athletic specialty, sporting goods and better independent retailers nationwide.
