History of Tokidoki. Started as a Simone Legno personal website a few years ago, his diary, a portfolio of sorts, and a place in which to display his art and soul. Since launching Tokidoki, he has been touched by the kindness of thousands who have expressed their love for his unique interpretation of the world. In early 2003, the co-founder of Hard Candy Cosmetics and her husband discovered Simone Legno’s website, which being listed as one of the The Independent’s top ten “websites of the week”. They then arranged to meet him, and Simone Legno joined them in Los Angeles to form the Tokidoki business venture as build Tokidoki into a brand to share with the world. They believed that everyone should experience the cute and playful yet sexy and sophisticated world that is Tokidoki. Now, Simone Legno is living his dream of making the world a bit more colorful and positive through Tokidoki.
Tokidoki characters. Tokidoki has the cutest characters in the world that no girls wouldn’t fall in love with. Even guys love it to death. There are many lovable characters like The Cactus Friends, The Moofia, Adios & Ciao Ciao, Skeletrino & Skeletrina, Bruttino & Carina and Captain Coco. These are the main sets, but there are others and most of them belong to its own distinct worlds inside of Tokidoki. Since launching, Tokidoki has created the Tokidoki for LeSportsac line of handbags in collaboration with LeSportsac. The first print was introduced in Spring 2006, originally named Tokidoki, but deemed by fans as ‘”The Original Print”, which includes Sandy and her Cactus Friends, along with the Moofia minions. Since then many other characters have been released and featured on LeSportsac bags and the prints have also expanded to other merchandise such as jewelry.
Tokidoki vinyl toys. These include the 10″ Trexi Yukuun and the 3″ Trexi that came with it, Yuki-Za and the Tokidoki series 3 Dunny. The Cactus Friends and Moofia line of designer toys with Strangeco has been highly successful. Simone Legno also designed an 8″ Qee Bear named Sahara with Toy2R. There is also a collection of seven Cactus Pups that and there have been two Tokidoki Circus Punks. The Moofia is a line of 11 vinyl toys. In 2008, Tokidoki plush dolls, Sandy, Mozzarella and Bulleto were released plus a grey-scale version of Bulleto was released in limited edition. Tokidoki also collaborated with Toy Tokyo a premiered a limited edition soccer-themed Tokidoki Be@rbrick at the New York Comic Con. Simone Legno was pleased with the collaboration and subsequently created a limited edition Toy Tokyo geisha vinyl as well as another Toy Tokyo exclusive Be@rbrick (LA Robber) that was released in 2009.
